You tape these tiny labels to your body,
Little words that you believe define you.
One for woman, another for blue-eyed.
You have one for rich,
another for Christian or Muslim
or atheist. And even more.
One says angry, another alcoholic.
And then there is fat and banker
or lawyer, old, too short, not enough,
but what is what? Not one word of it
is You. Tear off these labels,
and the Light is revealed.
Stand there naked without one word
to define your self. Do this no matter what.
And your soul will be like a pearl.
Take yourself out of your shell.
There You are! Nothing in shadows,
all Your Light breaking apart the dark.
